Georgia voters to receive absentee ballots; election date changes

According to the Secretary of State’s Office, all of Georgia’s 6.9 million active voters will soon be mailed absentee ballot request forms for the election. Voters will choose whether they want to vote in the Democratic Party or Republican Party primary, sign their names, add 55-cent stamps and put the forms in the mail.

Cobb County voters can also complete absentee ballot applications at cobbelections.org. Election officials will mail the appropriate ballot, which will be counted if it’s received by the time polls close at 7 p.m., June 9. Voters who already participated in the Presidential Primary will receive ballots with other races during the June 9 election. Voters who haven’t yet participated in the Presidential Primary will receive ballots that include both presidential candidates and other candidates.

Those who are not registered to vote, or who need to change their addresses, have until May 11 to participate in the election. New voter registration and changed voter registration applications can be submitted at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.
