Speed Table Meeting Update:
Greetings Neighbors:
We had a productive meeting on Tuesday evening at the Cameron Glen/Park Clubhouse regarding ways to slow down drivers in the subdivision. Thank you to those who attended.
Over the years there have been many concerns expressed by neighbors regarding excessive speeding in the Cameron Glen and Cameron Park (CG/CP) Subdivision. I received a request for adding speed tables to various CG/CP neighborhood streets. I forwarded this request to the City of Marietta to conduct a speed table analysis to determine if CG/CP subdivision would qualify as a candidate for speed tables. The analysis results indicated that Cameron Park is a candidate, but Cameron Glen is NOT due to the topography and slope of the streets.
For those of you not familiar, speed tables are mid-block traffic calming devices that raise the entire wheelbase of a vehicle to reduce its traffic speed. Most cars can travel up to 25mph over a speed table. There are many ways to calm traffic, so there is no one-size-fits-all approach to slowing down drivers in our neighborhood.
We also discussed other traffic calming options such as additional stop signs, increasing speed limit signage, and adding temporary driver feedback signs. There was general consensus to NOT move forward with speed tables; instead the consensus was to increase the number of speed limit signs in the subdivision for awareness, add additional stop signs to the two-way stop intersections and place two temporary driver feedback signs for speed awareness.
Thank you for your feedback and efforts to keep our community and pedestrians safe.
Best Regards,
Michelle Cooper Kelly
